Kofi Kingston Injury Update Ahead Of Extreme Rules

Kofi Kingston is the current WWE Champion and he is scheduled to defend his title against Samoa Joe at Extreme Rules on Sunday night. The star, who is one-third of The New Day announced at last night’s live event from Glen Falls, New York that he was injured so he couldn’t compete alongside his brothers on this occasion.

Big E and Xavier Woods then went on to defeat The B Team while Kingston watched on from ringside while throwing pancakes into the crowd. While Kofi Kingston did wrestle on Saturday and Sunday as part of live events and was able to pick up wins over Dolph Ziggler, he wasn’t able to wrestle last night.

It appears that Kingston was injured as part of Sunday’s Live Event in Binghamton when he took on The Showoff. The WWE Champion stated that despite the injury, he would be ready for Sunday night’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, which means that he’s only struggling with a minor issue.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently revealed that it was a back injury that Kingston was struggling with.

Interestingly, Kingston isn’t mentioned as part of tonight’s SmackDown Live preview that was released by WWE. This is the final episode of the show ahead of Extreme Rules, and he is still expected to be part of it.

Samoa Joe and Kingston will want to finish the build to their match, plus there is a rumor that it could be turned into a ladder match as part of tonight’s show since Corey Graves mentioned it last week on Raw and nothing has been said since.

Hopefully, Kingston won’t be a physical part of tonight’s show, which means that he will be able to recover in time for his match with Joe and be prepared to put on a show to ensure that he is able to keep hold of his WWE Championship once again.
