Matt Hardy Could Be Headed To AEW, Drew McIntyre To Face Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 36?

Matt Hardy‘s days in WWE could be winding down as his contract expires soon with no sign of renewal just yet. It appears that the veteran wrestler is gearing up for the next phase of his long, illustrious career.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Hardy’s current situation and his potential departure from WWE.

“There are rumors about Matt Hardy. Again, his contract is up in a couple of months. I think that he’s doing Broken Matt Hardy segments so whether it’s Impact or Ring Of Honor or AEW…in that situation if you’re trying to be high profile then AEW is your best bet. I would think that he might end up there.”

The Hardy Boyz made their grand WWE return at WrestleMania 33, but the upcoming ‘Mania season could witness Matt quitting the company.

Meanwhile, WWE could be making huge WrestleMania plans for ex-Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre.

The Scottish Psychopath has been scoring back-to-back victories of late while teasing a babyface turn ahead of Royal Rumble.

On Pro Wrestling Podcast, Wade Keller speculated that a babyface turn for McIntyre could be on the horizon courtesy of mastermind Paul Heyman.

“I think that Drew was definitely heading towards a babyface personality in the way he interacted with the crowd, but was badass in the ring. So, I think it may be testing the waters, or what if Paul Heyman told Drew to be a little looser. Because Drew is wound so tight. Heyman could have said ‘we want you to show a wider range’.”

WWE could potentially have a babyface McIntyre win the Royal Rumble and set him up for WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

“That could be step one of Paul hoping that fans cheer drew and then go to Vince and say that fans are cheering Drew, so let’s have him in the rumble and face Brock Lesnar.”
