A few weeks ago, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that Matt Riddle’s contract was up in August 2021 and that WWE wanted him to sign a new deal soon.
According to Fightful Select, WWE and Riddle agreed to a new deal last week. Initially, WWE offered him $400,000 for this new contract but Riddle wasn’t interested in re-signing. Then the company increased their offer and both parties agreed to put pen to paper.
“WWE were hopeful that he’d sign before the calendar rolled over to 2020, and according to sources within WWE, that happened last week. Prior to the re-signing, his contract was set to expire in August after his initial contract that he signed in 2018.”
However, Fightful didn’t reveal for how long The Original Bro is now locked into a contract with WWE. At this point, it’s safe to say that WWE has huge plans for the former UFC fighter.
The higher-ups in WWE like him and even legends such as Hulk Hogan see a huge star in Matt Riddle. Incidentally, Vince McMahon also finds Matt funny in his own way.
All of these things indicate that Riddle will have a bright future in wrestling. So far, WWE has kept him protected and they might be setting him up for a huge push.
