Matt Riddle Set to Receive Title Shot at WWE Summerslam

Matt Riddle made his main roster debut a few weeks ago but has been in the spotlight for a long time. Riddle has managed to catch the attention of Vince McMahon himself with his unique laidback persona, and it seems the Original Bro will be next in line for a title shot.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is planning for AJ Styles vs Matt Riddle match at Summerslam, with King Corbin vs Riddle matchup taking place sometime between now and August.

WON reported that the plans for the match were set in motion after Riddle’s non-title victory on his debut.

“A.J. Styles vs. Matt Riddle was also already set up when Riddle beat Styles in a non-title match. It also could be Riddle vs. King Corbin, which has also been pushed on television, with the idea of a Riddle win to set up the Styles match at SummerSlam.”

It was recently reported that Vince McMahon loved Riddle’s story about his bare-footed presence in the ring, and likened him to a young Shawn Michaels.

WON also brought up the possibility of Randy Orton taking on Drew McIntyre at the Biggest Party of the Summer. With Edge sidelined due to injury, Orton is being pushed into a program with McIntyre at Summerslam, due to RAW’s lack of top heels currently.
