During this week’s AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, NJPW superstar KENTA shocked the world when he attacked Jon Moxley to close out the show.
Moxley is NJPW’s IWGP United States Champion and KENTA is due a match against him. Last week, Moxley appeared on NJPW Strong and attacked KENTA with a paradigm shift. Their match will happen later this month on February 26 at NJPW The New Beginning USA.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about this and said that both companies are now in a working relationship.
Some time ago, AEW also partnered with Impact Wrestling. This cross-promotion partnership can prove to be highly beneficial for AEW as they’ll get access to a much broader roster.
“The deal is done and the two sides have a working relationship. The pandemic sped it up, but it also holds it back at the same time. You know, the only way to get Moxley was to make a deal. When AEW first started, New Japan had no clue [how] successful they’d be. There are a lot of things about it.”
