No Live Episode of SmackDown Planned for Christmas Day

Three years ago, WWE presented Monday Night Raw live on Christmas Day and it was a stacked episode that included Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan winning the Raw Tag Team Championships when they were able to defeat The Bar.

Despite this episode going over well with the WWE Universe, the company reportedly doesn’t have any plans to repeat this feat on SmackDown.

This year, Christmas Day falls on a Friday which means that an episode of SmackDown will be expected to air, but RingSideNews is reporting that the company will be pre-recording the show instead.

Much like Tribute to the Troops, which aired this past weekend, WWE could allow fans to know when the show will be pre-recorded so that they can be part of the ThunderDome crowd, but it’s unclear what the company has planned at this current moment in time.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic that’s swept through the world throughout the past year and WWE’s move to the Tropicana Field just weeks before Christmas, its probably a good idea for WWE to hold back on taping a live episode on Christmas day this year, especially since many of their superstars will want to spend the holidays with their family.
