NXT Superstar Damian Priest Was Originally Slated to Appear on WWE SmackDown Last Week

The feud between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens was originally expected to end at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, which is where Reigns came out on top in their TLC match.

The feud has instead continued, and this past week on SmackDown, Kevin Owens was thrown from The ThunderDome after once again being double-teamed by Jey Uso and the Universal Champion.

Reports this week suggest that the plans for SmackDown were changed at the last-minute since Roman Reigns was set to deliver a special request, which was advertised ahead of the show.

Reigns and Paul Heyman instead changed the plans for their segment on SmackDown, and according to a report by WrestleVotes, this was set to include an NXT call-up.

The report goes on to state that this star is set to be part of tonight’s New Year’s Evil show, and at present, it is unknown if the plans for last week’s SmackDown will go ahead this week instead.

WrestleVotes do not name the NXT star that was set to be called up as part of the storyline, but the report does note that they were prepared to be part of the storyline between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns, which could finally give KO the help he needs.

In an update to this, Fightful Select recently confirmed this rumor and revealed that Damian Priest was the NXT star in question. Priest takes on Karrion Kross tonight at New Year’s Evil.
