Kevin Owens is currently a main member of the Monday Night Raw locker room and recently walked into a feud with The Authors of Pain since the duo dragged the former Universal Champion out of the arena last week after another beatdown.

Owens could be stepping into a feud with Seth Rollins in the coming weeks when AOP’s real intentions are revealed, but this wasn’t the original plan for Owens following the 2019 WWE Draft last month.

According to a report by Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda, Kevin Owens was originally supposed to remain as part of the Friday Night SmackDown locker room on The FOX Network but the fact that the draft lists were leaked online ahead of the draft meant that WWE had to make some last-minute changes to keep the fans guessing.

“He [Owens] was a last-minute swap as well. The plan was very much to keep him on SmackDown based on the specific order they were reading things out and the leaked information that was in WWE.com. Paul Heyman probably saw what was happening and reacted to the list and said ‘Ok we need to make a change. Give me Kevin Owens. I’ll do very good things with him,'” he said via Sportskeeda.

It’s unknown what was planned for Owens on SmackDown before he was moved to Raw, but it appears that the former NXT Champion will be handed some interesting storylines under the leadership of Paul Heyman.

Owens was even given the opportunity to be part of both WarGames and Survivor Series last weekend, the only main roster star who was awarded such an opportunity and wasn’t the star that turned heel in the Raw vs SmackDown vs NXT match, which is what the WWE Universe were lead to believe heading into one of the company’s biggest shows of the year.
