WWE’s Road To WrestleMania begins this Sunday with the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Texas and things could get a whole lot interesting at the upcoming Saudi Arabian pay-per-view next month.
WWE has a lot on the plate at present – not only do they have to protect their top champions till ‘Mania, but they also need to book the titles strongly to attract viewers’ attention leading up to the grand event.
Reigning WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt have a long road ahead. Their WrestleMania paths are quite different but both trips begin in the 30-Man Elimination match at the Royal Rumble.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE doesn’t have any clear winner for the Royal Rumble matches this year. While Roman Reigns is the odds-on favorite to win the Men’s Rumble and challenge Wyatt at WrestleMania, whoever eliminates or dares Lesnar on Sunday will be his challenger on April 5th.
“There’s no obvious Rumble winner this year, but Reigns winning to challenge Wyatt is a possibility. Brock Lesnar, the WWE champion, will be entering the Rumble at No. 1 and whoever he is to face at Mania, that would probably be a guy that either eliminates him or shoots an angle with him.”
Rumors suggest that The Big Dog would potentially dethrone The Fiend at the Show Of Shows. As for The Beast, it’s too early to speculate anything as WWE always has a habit of swerving everyone when it comes to booking the most decorated athlete in combat sports.
Lesnar is the first Superstar to enter the Men’s Royal Rumble match this year and fans believe Cain Velasquez will come in at #2 to resume their rivalry and officially cement their WrestleMania title feud.
What’s interesting is that the Superstar to challenge Lesnar at ‘Mania won’t be the one to win the Royal Rumble on Sunday.
