This past week on Monday Night Raw saw a fantastic tag team match that pitted United States Champion Andrade and Angel Garza up against Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. This match was obviously made after it was announced that Garza and Andrade would be challenging The Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, so it was seen as a warm-up match for the new number one contenders.
Many fans noted online how well Ricochet and Alexander seemed to compliment each other in the ring before the finish of the match saw Andrade pin the former Cruiserweight Champion following his fake kick into a back elbow.
The elbow was seen to land clean in Alexander’s face and then the referee went on to count four on the pin rather than three. According to a report by Cagesideseats, this was because Cedric Alexander suffered a concussion in the match and was unable to kick out of the finish in time.
“There’s speculation the botched finish of Andrade & Angel Garza’s win on this week’s Raw was due to Cedric Alexander having suffered a concussion in the match.”
Alexander isn’t currently scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania, but it appears that he could still be one of the stars who were against the show happening in any capacity. According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWinsider, everyone in WWE was against the show continuing except Vince McMahon.
“I can confirm after speaking to dozens of people in the company. I’m talking wrestlers, behind the scenes people, whatever, there is only one person who felt that they should have gone forward with WrestleMania and that’s why they’re going forward with WrestleMania and that’s Vince.”
At present, the main matches for the show have already been pre-recorded, since the company made the decision to air the show next weekend, but pre-record all shows leading up to the event and even the event itself given the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
