WWE invited back 38 legends for last night’s show which saw many of them able to actually play their part in the episode itself. The 24/7 Championship changed hands nine times with the likes of Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, and Alundra Blayze becoming the first women to hold the title.
The likes of D-Von Dudley and Rikishi were invited to ringside to watch the tag team match between The Usos and The Revival, but it appears that Rikishi was originally supposed to deliver a stink-face to Scott Dawson, Dash Wilder, and D-Von, but doctors refused to clear him for action, which is why he was stuck at ringside throughout.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, there were a number of original segments that had to be scrapped ahead of last nights show because the legends who were scripted to be part of them were not medically cleared to compete.
Dave Meltzer stated that doctors refused to clear many of the stars for any kind of physical activity in the ring, which meant that the company had to rescript a lot of the show at the last minute.
This makes sense since Alundra Blayze, Pat Patterson and Ted DiBiase weren’t actually pinned to lose their Championship, and Blayze didn’t even pin Candice Michelle, instead, she stood up and locked her in a choke.
Pat Patterson also refused to get down and pin Drake Maverick, instead opting to stomp him and then hold him in place with his foot while the referee counted the pin.
There were many stars like Christian, Booker T, Jerry Lawler and Jonathan Coachman who were welcomed onto commentary for different matches, while others made do with backstage segments since Santino Marella, Jillian Hall, and Jimmy Hart were all relegated to cameo appearances.
