WWE booked themselves into a corner last night when it comes to their main event at Hell in a Cell since the WWE Universe was completely behind Bray Wyatt becoming Universal Champion, but it was obvious that Vince McMahon wouldn’t allow Seth Rollins to be dethroned.

WWE has worked hard to establish Rollins and the biggest star on the Raw roster since he’s the 2019 Royal Rumble winner and has defeated Brock Lesnar clean on two occasions in recent months.

Last night’s Hell in a Cell match ended via referee stoppage after the referee determined that Wyatt couldn’t continue because he wasn’t defending himself, but that led to boos throughout the arena.

According to The Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon was the man behind the outcome here and it’s believed that it was because he wanted Charlotte Flair, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and Brock Lesnar as the company’s four main Champions ahead of the WWE Draft on Friday.

“I think that Vince wanted to go in there, with, you know this is like a new season and I think that there was like this idea that he wanted Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch as the four champions going into this draft and going into this new season. Those were his picks and Bray Wyatt wasn’t,” he said via Sportskeeda.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reiterated that the ending to the match was Vince McMahon’s idea and that it played out completely as he envisioned it. Sapp stated that a source revealed that as soon as the match was over and the crowd reacted, McMahon “knew he had messed up.”

Sapp went on to state that McMahon initially tried to laugh off the crowd’s response to the ending of the pay-per-view, but other sources seemed to reveal the opposite.
