The Big Show was originally scheduled to wrestle Shaquille O’Neal back at WrestleMania 33 and The World’s Largest Athlete even got himself into impressive shape ahead of the bout, but it never happened.
This was a follow on from O’Neal’s involvement in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, but there was never a definitive end to their feud
Last night on AEW Dynamite, Jade Cargill made her debut in a segment with Cody Rhodes, and O’Neal’s name was dropped so it was made to seem as though he could be heading over to All Elite Wrestling.
On the latest episode of The Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer revealed the reasons why the match with The Big Show never became a reality and the arguments from either side.
“Both sides blame the other when it came to Shaquille and WWE. WWE always said that like he would talk like he wanted to do it, but he never agreed to do it. WWE also said that he wouldn’t train and it was always out of shape. Shaquille also said that they promised him an amount of money, but they never put it down, so he never got the offer that they said.”
