Possible Reason Why WWE Scrapped Plans for a WrestleMania Match Between Edge and Randy Orton

Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble match on Sunday night and will now be given the chance to challenge for a World Championship at WrestleMania.

The Rated R Superstar seemingly wrapped up his feud with Randy Orton on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw when a distraction from Alexa Bliss allowed the former 11-time Champion to hit a spear and pick up the victory.

There were initially plans for Randy Orton and Edge to wrestle at WrestleMania later in the year, but it appears that the Rated R Superstar could now be going after Roman Reigns instead.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE planned the third match between Edge and Orton at The Royal Rumble and even an “I Quit” match at WrestleMania before Edge offered up a new idea.

Edge reportedly “got this idea of coming back and winning the Royal Rumble and maybe winning the championship” which appealed to WWE Officials.

It is now believed that Randy Orton will continue his feud with Alexa Bliss and The Fiend heading into WrestleMania, whilst Edge can focus on winning back the championship he never lost.

The Fiend hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs when he lost the Firefly Inferno Match but has continued his feud with The Viper through Alexa Bliss.
