This week’s episode of WWE Raw was main evented by Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee before Goldberg made his presence known when he laid down a Royal Rumble challenge.
While this was easily the biggest shock of the night, PWInsider is reporting that this wasn’t the original plan. In fact, Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy were originally scheduled to main event Raw.
“The original plan for the show was for Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton to close Raw but the decision was made late in the day to close with Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre instead and do the Goldberg angle.”
It was also reported that WWE made the plan for Goldberg to face Drew McIntyre on Saturday, which means that the Goldberg angle would have taken place much earlier on Raw.
It’s interesting to think of what the swerve for the end of Raw could have been, if the show was set to end with Randy Orton once again, after last week’s cliff hanger.
Orton is currently in the middle of a feud with The Fiend and he revealed that he didn’t set Alexa Bliss on fire last night on Raw, but the former Women’s Champion wasn’t part of the show.
Could WWE have had a much more interesting swerve in mind for the end of Raw last night?
