After defeating his one-time mentor Triple H at WWE Super Showdown, what is next for The Viper Randy Orton?
Well, if Orton’s Twitter activity is to be believed, the thirteen time WWE champion now has his sights on two of the main roster’s newer talents.
Orton is a third-generation superstar and the youngest WWE World Champion in history. He’s earned the moniker, “The Legend Killer” for, in the course of his career, targeting and going after wrestling veterans and Hall of Famers. His match and subsequent defeat of Triple H could be thought of as another notch in Orton’s Legend Killer belt.
Given that there are now relatively few active legends for Orton to go up against, it’s probably not too surprising that he might turn his attention to up and coming superstars instead.
One possible target for Orton is NXT call-up Aleister Black, while the other is the current Intercontinental champion Finn Balor.
Black, who was initially called up as part of a tag team with Ricochet, hasn’t really seen action since the Superstar Shakeup saw him going to SmackDown while Ricochet went to Raw.
Black has since been releasing a series of promos where he calls out to the roster and wonders who will be the one to first challenge him.
WWE also asked that question on their official Twitter account and got some answers from the WWE Universe on who they would like to see challenge Black.
The Tweet caught the attention of Orton who re-tweeted it and seems to answer the question by adding his Twitter handle.
Shortly after, Orton sent out another “challenging” tweet, this time directed to Balor who successfully retained the Intercontinental Championship against Andrade on Super Showdown.
Orton muses that the IC title was the first one he ever won. He defeated Rob Van Dam for it back in 2003.
“First title I ever won is around his waist,” wrote Orton about Balor. “Maybe I want it back.”
