MVP is back to working as a full-time performer in WWE and his stint as a backstage producer has been put on hold for now.
The former United States Champion returned to WWE at Royal Rumble in January, worked a few matches, declared his retirement, and transitioned into a backstage role.
However, according to Dave Meltzer, MVP’s role as a producer was cut short due to the company-wide cuts last month, wherein several wrestlers and producers were released. Certain producers were thought to be on a furlough, and MVP is a part of them.
MVP then returned to the ring as an occasional wrestler, and also joined forces with Bobby Lashley as his mouthpiece. Lashley’s current relationship with Lana is going downhill, while MVP has stepped in to take the former ECW Champion to new heights.
With MVP by his side, Lashley scored himself a WWE title opportunity and will be facing Drew McIntyre at Backlash next week. It was noted that Paul Heyman lobbied for MVP to be with Lashley for an eventual world title run for the Almighty.
Once things return to normalcy, MVP is expected to return to his backstage role, but his current dynamic with Lashley could result in him staying on-screen as well.
