Former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey could be returning to WWE way sooner than expected.
At WrestleMania 35, Rousey and Charlotte Flair lost their respective RAW & SmackDown Women’s Championships to hot underdog Becky Lynch in the Winner Takes All main event match. The historic showdown marked Rousey’s last appearance on WWE TV.
On Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast, Brad Shepard dropped a Rowdy bombshell – Ronda’s name is coming up “more frequently” in WWE’s office and the current notion is that the longest reigning RAW Women’s Champion will inevitably return to the company at the earliest.
“As I recently reported Ronda Rousey’s return is inevitable. I’m told her name is coming up more frequently in the office. She does have a friendship with Nattie and unfinished business with Becky Lynch so that could be a way to re-introduce her. We’ll see if that happens, but that is certainly an intriguing option.”
Lynch currently has the RAW Women’s Title around her waist and is expected to be carrying it around until Survivor Series at the very least. On the other hand, veteran Natalya is set to challenge The Man for the big red belt next month at SummerSlam. For those missing the point, this is exactly where things get interesting – if ya smell what WWE is cooking?
Lynch is still as hot as she was during her WrestleMania build-up and no matter how big a babyface her opponent turns out to be, The Irish Lasskicker will always receive the cheers as fans bury her challenger with heaps of boos.
Given Rousey and Lynch are arch-rivals, WWE would likely turn Lynch heel and have the stage set for a blockbuster return of their Golden Girl.
Rousey is currently on vacation with her husband Travis Browne. However, she does make regular appearances on her YouTube channel and teases her future in the ring.
It has been rumored for months that Rousey will potentially face Lynch for the RAW Women’s Title at WrestleMania 36 – a storyline quite similar to the epic John Cena vs. The Rock programme with a few modifications.
