WWE has been pushing Shane McMahon as “The Best in the World” ever since he picked up the trophy back at Crown Jewel in November when WWE presented an entire tournament to crown a “Best in the World” which was obviously a shot at CM Punk.

The Commissioner of SmackDown Live has since been much more active in the ring on SmackDown and as part of pay-per-views, recording more matches this year than he has in his career.

McMahon and Drew McIntyre have become something of a formidable force in recent weeks as they target Roman Reigns following his attack on Vince McMahon back in April.

Shane McMahon shockingly defeated Reigns back at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia on Friday night, and The Big Dog hasn’t been seen since which has led to many fans asking where this storyline with McMahon is actually leading.

According to a Tweet from WrestleVotes, WWE could be planning to pull off a huge shock by allowing Shane McMahon to be the one who takes the WWE Championship from Kofi Kingston.

Kingston is one of the most popular WWE Champions in WWE history and the WWE Universe pushed for The New Day member to pick up the Championship at WrestleMania. Over the past few months, he has overcome the threats of Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler and even Daniel Bryan in Championship matches but Shane McMahon could be a real threat.

McMahon has had a lot of referees on his side over the past few months and with McIntyre, The Revival and even Elias by his side, he has more than enough backup to overcome The New Day odds.

It would be a shock if WWE decided that Shane McMahon would be the man to finally dethrone Kingston, but given the decisions that creative have been making over on Raw surrounding the Universal Championship, it doesn’t come as that much of a surprise.
