The Miz won the Money in the Bank contract back at Hell in a Cell when he was able to defeat Otis following interference from Tucker.
The Miz pursued the contract for a number of weeks before forcing Otis to put the briefcase on the line after taking him to court.
There were reports in the weeks leading up to Hell in a Cell that WWE’s creative team was looking for ways to allow Otis to keep the contract, but in the end, Vince McMahon reportedly decided that he wanted a shock.
According to a report by Ringsidenews, it was an impetuous decision from the WWE Chairman because he wanted a standout moment and this was what decided.
At present, there are rumors that WWE could be looking to repeat history with The Miz and Randy Orton, but there are several storylines surrounding The Viper on Raw right now.
