The Velveteen Dream’s jump to the main roster will be delayed, and the young star will be staying on Wednesday night for the time being, as per the latest report by WrestleTalk.
Dream lost his NXT Championship Match against Adam Cole at NXT Takeover: In Your House last night. With this loss, Dream wouldn’t be able to challenge Cole for the title anytime in the future.
This was seen as a possible way to end Dream’s NXT run and bring him up to the main roster, but the plans seem to have changed.
WWE has been discussing the possibilities of bringing up several stars to the main roster, with Matt Riddle already confirmed on the blue brand.
Other stars like Dream, Dominik Dijakovic, and Chelsea Green were also named as possibilities for a call-up to either RAW or SmackDown, but Dream’s future will be on the black-and-gold roster for now. No reasons were given for the delay in Dream’s main-roster switch.
Triple H discussed the possibility of Dream moving to the main-roster in the post-Takeover conference call, and said that it is a “wait and see” approach for Dream for now. The Game mentioned the unpredictability of these callups and felt it made the business better.
