This year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view was always going to be different from what fans had become accustomed to over the past three decades.
There were no fans in attendance for the event which meant that the natural atmosphere was one of the things that were missing the most. There were also several stars forced to pull out of the show at the last minute given the nature of the current global pandemic.
Over the past few days, many fans have questions why Ricochet was part of the Royal Rumble match when he lost his match to AJ Styles in qualifying.
Jey Uso declared himself for the Royal Rumble weeks before the show but wasn’t one of the stars who were added to the match.
Braun Strowman was also suspended by Adam Pearce back in November but suddenly he has been allowed to return without Pearce’s permission.
One thing that is known for sure is that Reckoning should have represented RETRIBUTION inside the Women’s Royal Rumble but she announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19 the day before.
According to Fightful Select, Toni Storm was a last-minute replacement for the former NXT star since it was known in advance that she couldn’t be part of the show.
“Toni Storm actually wasn’t originally planned for the Rumble match, and ended up serving as an alternate when Yim couldn’t make it.”
