Samoa Joe has been strangely absent from WWE for a number of weeks, ever since it was revealed that he wasn’t the one behind the attacks on Roman Reigns ahead of SummerSlam. The Samoan Submission Machine hasn’t been part of the last two pay-per-views and many members of the WWE Universe have been questioning his whereabouts.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Samoa Joe has been sidelined with a broken thumb over the past few weeks which is the reason why he hasn’t been seen on WWE TV.
The report went on to state that Joe is just waiting for the injury to heal and then WWE will be looking at ways for the former NXT Champion to make his return to TV. He is still expected to be part of Friday’s WWE Draft.
Samoa Joe isn’t the only WWE superstar currently sidelined through injury since Sasha Banks suffered a back injury following her match with Becky Lynch inside Hell in a Cell on Sunday Night.
The Boss failed to lift the Raw Women’s Championship inside the Cell and given the abrupt end to the match, it was thought that the feud between the two women could have continued into Survivor Series.
According to Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Radio, Banks’ injury has forced WWE to change the storyline moving forward, which is why the team of Asuka and Kairi Sane was able to defeat Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair this week on Raw, just hours after Lynch was able to walk out of Hell in a Cell with her Championship.
It appears that the plan now is for Asuka to be given a shot at the Raw Women’s Championship, which means that either Asuka or both The Kabuki Warriors could be moved over to Monday Night Raw as part of the WWE Draft which kicks off on Friday night.
