Vince McMahon Reportedly Changed Original Finish For Raw Women’s Title Match at WWE Extreme Rules

Last night at The Horror Show At Extreme Rules, Sasha Banks defeated Asuka in a controversial fashion to win the RAW Women’s Championship. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley who was present ringside took the matter in her own hands and acted as a makeshift referee in order to award Banks her 5th RAW Women’s Title victory.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the original finish of the match would’ve seen Asuka retaining her title but Vince McMahon changed plans at the very last minute.

“So, Sasha and Asuka, for whatever reason, Asuka was supposed to win the match, and Vince changed his mind. I think it was the day of the show, but it was basically a last-minute change.”

It was also noted that WWE’s intention to continue the title feud between Asuka and Banks on weekly television for the purpose of boosting the ratings explains the controversial finish at Extreme Rules.

Bayley might have helped The Boss walk out of Extreme Rules as a Double Champion, but The Empress is still listed as the RAW Women’s Champion on the official WWE website.

It would be interesting to see how the announcers as well as Asuka and Sasha address the entire situation tonight on RAW.
