WWE Almost Broke Up The New Day Last Year and Planned a Heel Turn for Big E

WWE doesn’t have plenty of successful factions in recent memory apart from The Shield, The New Day, and The Undisputed Era. Although Shield was broken up after less than two years, New Day has managed to stay intact for nearly six years now.

Xavier Woods is injured for quite some time now, while Kofi Kingston is taking some time off from WWE TV, which has allowed Big E to venture into singles competition for the time being. However, this is not a permanent split, as RingsideNews reports that there are zero plans to break up the trio.

According to the report, there were plans to break up the trio last year, in order to felicitate a heel turn for Big E.

Big E has achieved success in singles competition before becoming a part of the faction, as he has held the Intercontinental Championship and the NXT title in the past. However, WWE refrained from splitting the trio, but they were quite close to doing so.

Kofi Kingston held the WWE Championship last year, and WWE could’ve planned to bring Big E as a possible opponent for Kingston. It could be a major shocker and could have evoked a tremendous reaction from the live crowd, as Big E has advocated for Kingston’s title run several times.

Big E has often been earmarked for success as a singles star, with his charisma and in-ring prowess, and it won’t be surprising to see him challenge for World Titles soon.
