This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was perhaps one of the best of 2020 and included a number of returns and swerves ahead of SummerSlam in a few weeks’ time.
Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan reunited while Apollo Crews made his return and Raw Underground made its debut, but Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer noted on today’s show that heading into yesterday’s tapings there were only two segments confirmed.
Meltzer stated that the segment with Randy Orton and Ric Flair as well as the Raw Underground debut were the only two segments that were prepared for the show, which made the tapings somewhat chaotic.
This also led to WWE’s Social Media team having a few issues since they announced the debut of a faction that technically didn’t happen. Instead, five figures were seen setting some electrical boxes alight outside of The Performance Center after the security footage was aired.
The report went on to state that Vince McMahon had rejected a lot of content heading into the show which left a lot of ground to be made up despite the chaos surrounding yesterday’s tapings.
WWE still managed to pull off a fantastic show while under pressure and have begun the build-up to what could be the best pay-per-view of the year.
