WWE Reportedly Bringing Back AJ Styles Ahead of Time to Help Improve Raw Ratings

AJ Styles has been missing in action on WWE programming ever since his loss against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 in the Graveyard Match. The match saw Undertaker literally bury Styles inside a grave, which saw the Deadman return with his American Badass gimmick.

It was noted that Styles would stay out of action for a long time to sell this loss, and possibly return as a babyface. However, it was reported recently by John Pollock of POST Wrestling, that AJ Styles will indeed be returning to action on this week’s RAW.

This week’s episode was taped last week itself and WWE is desperate to fix the consistent ratings drop. According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, WWE is bringing back the former WWE Champion to help fix the ratings for now.

AJ Styles was reported to return and join the Money in the Bank PPV, which is scheduled to take place this Sunday. It is unknown what role the Phenomenal One gets to play at the PPV, but it should become clearer during the RAW episode.

Styles turning babyface seems highly unlikely at this point, as WWE lacks top heels on the red brand currently. Styles will also be without his two buddies, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, who were released by WWE during the massive employee release session last month.

RAW features a Gauntlet Match to determine the final entrant in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. The spot was vacated after Apollo Crews was injured during the United States Championship Match against Andrade last week.

Styles could return in the Gauntlet Match and take up the final spot in the match, which features Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black from RAW and Otis, Daniel Bryan and King Corbin from Friday Night SmackDown.
