WWE SmackDown will move to FOX just a few months from now in October. Eric Bischoff is set to lead the charge and the company is firing on all cylinders to make sure that the blue brand enjoys a blockbuster debut on FOX.
Barnburner Radio Network‘s Joe Peisich is reporting that WWE is planning to bring in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for the grand show.
“WWE is sort of pushing a panic button and trying to call former guys, new guys, whatever — they’re trying everything here.”
“I have also heard that for the first SmackDown on Fox in LA they’re trying to get The Rock, they are trying to get Brock Lesnar, they are trying to get Ric Flair into it.”
While nothing is set in stone yet, it’s possible that WWE will eventually manage to bring in a couple of legends for SmackDown’s big debut in The Fall.
The show will be taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles which gives us the notion that Vince McMahon will leave no stone unturned when it comes to making a statement. Expect some big names to blast the show on the grand night.
Last year at SmackDown 1000, Dave “The Animal” Bautista and Ric Flair graced the ring with Rey Mysterio making his WWE return in big fashion. The Rock was rumored to be at the show but he didn’t turn up eventually.
The WWE Universe can strongly expect The Great One to take center stage on the blue brand’s debut night on FOX. Throughout the show’s early existence, The Rock regularly addressed SmackDown as “his show”, and the name was derived from one of his greatest catchphrases, “Lay the smack down”.
It is being speculated that John Cena will also make a surprise appearance on the big night although there’s no solid word on his status yet.
