WWE Reportedly Cancels Two Major Matches for SummerSlam

WWE’s Biggest Party of the Summer, Summerslam, is set to take place in a month’s time, but the company is still in a mess trying to fix the card for the PPV. Summerslam is usually considered the second biggest PPV of the year after WrestleMania, but this year it won’t be the same without fans in attendance.

According to WrestleVotes, all the long-term plans for the PPV were torn up last weekend, and the company is still figuring out the card. One of the biggest headliners for the PPV was set to be the final installment in the long-running Edge-Randy Orton rivalry. However, Edge’s injury during the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” forced WWE to drop this plan.

Orton is now rumored to step up as the next challenger for Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship. Orton is currently in a feud with Big Show and is expected to join the main-event scene after the completion.

Another match which won’t take place at the PPV is Mandy Rose vs Sonya Deville in a Hair match, according to RingsideNews. The company was planning to continue the long-running Rose-Deville feud, with a possible culmination at next month’s PPV, but that won’t be happening anymore.

Rose is currently enjoying with MITB holder Otis, while Deville hasn’t appeared much on WWE TV.

Other rumored matches for the PPV include Intercontinental Championship match between AJ Styles and Matt Riddle, RAW Tag Team Championship Match between Street Profits and Andrade-Angel Garza, and the return of the Fiend for the first time since WrestleMania to take on the Universal Champion Braun Strowman.
