The Road To WrestleMania begins every year at the annual Royal Rumble event and every year WWE usually has the best part of WrestleMania mapped out by the time Rumble comes around. This doesn’t seem to be the case this year since a report by WrestleVotes on their social media earlier today stated that WWE doesn’t actually have most of the card for WrestleMania locked in just yet.
WWE has recently switched Networks over to the FOX Network with SmackDown and the USA Network with NXT while over in the United Kingdom, WWE has moved over to BT Sport and ended its long-time relationship with Sky Sports. The deal with BT Sport now also includes NXT and NXT UK, which will be airing live in the United Kingdom for the first time, so the company has obviously been quite busy despite their lack of plans.
Right now, there are a lot of different feuds that could lead to WrestleMania with Randy Orton and AJ Styles already teasing a match, but right now there is nothing set in stone and usually, the earliest announced matches for the show revolve around the Royal Rumble winners.
The fact that WWE is waiting and holding back on locking in WrestleMania matches means that they are definitely thinking the card through this year now that there isn’t a definite women’s push towards the show or even a definite male that they could push as a headliner.
Last year it was clear that Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch would be winning their respective Rumble matches, this year it could be anyone’s game and it could be anyone who main event WrestleMania, which means that as the Tweet above states, it is much more refreshing and it could well be one of the best WrestleMania’s in a very long time.
