Jon Moxley opted to pull out of last night’s AEW Fyter Fest after his wife Renee Young tested positive for COVID-19, but Moxley himself received a negative result.
This meant that Brian Cage’s match against the former WWE star had to be postponed and instead his manager Taz cut a promo about the current situation in Moxley’s life and seemed to reference WWE.
The former WWE commentator stated: “If you decide to get your ass here to work next week, you would get tested again here in AEW, because Jon, as you know, we don’t run a sloppy shop.”
It was the “Sloppy Shop” comment that reportedly got to WWE since Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer noted that officials in WWE were unhappy about it.
WWE recently had their own issues with COVID-19 since reports suggest up to 30 stars across the board in the company tested positive for the virus.
WWE has since introduced new measures which include more testing and masks being worn while in the audience.
Taz himself is a former WWE star, but it’s obvious that the comment was relating to WWE. AEW is yet to record a positive COVID-19 test result, even though QT Marshall and Jon Moxley were exposed to the virus and forced to take tests.
WWE has had a much harsher time, which could be why Taz made the dig for the cheap heel hit.
