WWE’s upcoming and first pay-per-view of 2019, Royal Rumble takes place on January 27 from Chase Field, Phoenix, US.
Only 5 matches on the PPV card have been officially announced so far, however, on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that the majority of the Royal Rumble show is already booked though nothing is set in stone yet.
“The Royal Rumble plans that we heard about in November-ish, I mean, those are already changing and over the next, I’d say probably two weeks we’re going to know a lot more about that.”
“That might play into changes at WrestleMania for the other title, so we shall see. I would say that right now nothing at this point is set in stone.”
“I was told this weekend that 80% of the Royal Rumble has been booked. There might be a couple of surprises in the Rumble match which is hardly news and we’ll see what happens as far as the top championship matches on that show”, he said via Ringside News
Given the New Era ushered in by The McMahon Family to turn things around, there’s always room for (sudden) last minute changes.
As of this writing, WWE has confirmed the following 5 bouts for January 27:
- 30-Man Elimination Match
- 30-Woman Elimination Match
- Brock Lesnar (c) vs Braun Strowman – WWE Universal Championship
- Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles – WWE Championship
- Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Kalisto vs. Akira Tozawa vs. TBD – WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Needless to say, all championships will be on the line at Chase Field. Fans can expect WWE to announce the RAW and SmackDown Live Tag Team Title defenses including the RAW Women’s Championship, SmackDown Women’s Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and United States Championship matches in the coming episodes once the shows go live next week.
Early betting odds for the Royal Rumble reveal Seth Rollins and Charlotte Flair as the winners of their respective Rumble matches.
