WWE Confirms Dean Ambrose’ Exit, Could Be Headed To AEW

WWE has confirmed via a statement to Wrestling Inc that Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his contract and will be leaving the company after the current contract expires. They have also published the statement on their website.

“Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”

PW Torch earlier reported that Ambrose is set to leave WWE after WrestleMania 35. The report was confirmed by three of their sources.

Ambrose’ contract expires shortly after WrestleMania and he has already informed Vince McMahon about his decision to leave the company after that. WWE reportedly offered a contract extension to Ambrose but The Moral Compass has turned it down.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of Ambrose heading to All Elite Wrestling after his WWE exit.

The first conclusion everyone is going to come to is AEW and I don’t know anything about that, but I will ask around about it. You know I have not heard his name, but there’s a lot of stuff that they’re trying to keep secret too.”

“I don’t think that they are looking to take too many guys from WWE, but if it’s the right guy. The approach they wanna do is different from WWE. It’s an approach that a lot of WWE wrestlers would like. So again, I’ll probably know a lot more about this tomorrow night.”

On PWInsider Elite audio, Mike Johnson revealed that possibilities of The Cleaner signing with WWE or AEW are equal and the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion will be seeking the best deal for himself.

“Honestly, he’s gonna make the best deal for himself and we’ll see come February it’s quite possible that when the All Elite Rally or ticket party happens in February in Las Vegas that Kenny Omega will be there.”

“It’s also just as possible that Kenny Omega will debut for WWE at the Elimination Chamber, we’ll see.”

Triple Threat Main Event At WrestleMania 35

2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch showed up on Monday Night RAW and officially challenged Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

As rumored for a couple of months, the plan is to add Charlotte Flair in the matchup, thus making it a Triple Threat bout. As noted earlier, the three female Superstars are the frontrunners to headline WrestleMania this year.

Dave Meltzer addressed the matter on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“For people who are wondering it is a three-way at least it is as of tonight. That segment was real strong I thought with Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch the crowd was going pretty nuts for it. You got a very good dynamic and a lot of people are talking about it and thinking that the way the segment went that it’s going to be a singles match.”

“I don’t know how they get to Charlotte Flair. I do know they have a storyline in place to get Charlotte Flair into the match and after TV that storyline is still in place.”
