Dean Ambrose is no longer the Intercontinental Champion and it appears that the former Shield member has now ended his on-going feud with former friend Seth Rollins heading into the Royal Rumble.
Ambrose still has his rematch clause and could reclaim the title from Bobby Lashley if he is given the chance, but this may not be the case. The Moral Compass of WWE is now expected to be part of the men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27th, but he isn’t expected to be the man winning the match in Chase Field.
Ambrose has had a whirlwind few months since he returned to WWE ahead of SummerSlam in 2018, and could now be set to have a huge match on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
According to Joe Peisich on Barnburner’s No Holds Barred Podcast, Ambrose could be set to face former Impact Wrestling star EC3.
“I’m also hearing that EC3 will up against Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania. So that’s what I hear about this,” he said via Ringsidenews.
This would be an interesting direction for Ambrose since he’s been stuck in a feud with Seth Rollins over the past few months. EC3 himself actually made his debut on Raw last night, but it was as part of a segment backstage that happened whilst The Revival were facing The Lucha House Party in the ring.
EC3 has been touted as WWE’s next big star throughout his time in NXT and back in 2018 it was reported that his callup to the main roster should have been sooner but was actually delayed because of injury, which means that WWE could have some big plans for the former TNA star in the coming months.
