It was revealed by WWE in their press release last week ahead of their trip to The Middle East that Goldberg would be making his return to WWE as part of their next Saudi Arabia show on June 7th.
Goldberg hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since his loss to Brock Lesnar back at WrestleMania 33 when he put the Universal Championship on the line and was embarrassed by The Beast. There have been a number of rumors about Goldberg’s opponents over the past few weeks with the biggest stating that the former WCW star could have been returning to face Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship in The Middle East but this obviously isn’t the plan.
Over the past few weeks, Bobby Lashley and Goldberg have had a number of exchanges on Twitter where it appears that WWE is setting up a match between the two men who have both made a career out of delivering a patented spear.
Many believed that WWE was bringing The Undertaker back in order for him to face Goldberg or even setting up Roman Reigns vs the former Universal Champion since both stars also have a spear in their arsenal, but this doesn’t look to be the case since Lashley is the only star who has had any kind of buildup with Goldberg.
Rajah also reported that Goldberg’s appearance in Saudi Arabia is expected to be a one-off and that he hasn’t signed up to be part of any other upcoming shows with WWE in the future. Brock Lesnar is the other name who is already lined up to make his return in Saudi Arabia, while WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has commented that he would be open to a return to WWE as part of their trip to The Middle East if he was asked.
