Does WWE Have A Back Up Plan For Asuka At WrestleMania This Weekend?
Asuka lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship two weeks ago to Charlotte Flair ahead of WrestleMania, an event where she was expected to defend the title against long time rival Mandy Rose.
Charlotte will now be defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship in the main event triple threat match alongside Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, which means that there will only be three women’s matches on the card once again this year.
Asuka isn’t going to be in a Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania, but Wrestling News reports that WWE wants to make it up to The Empress of Tomorrow by giving her the win in the Women’s WrestleMania Battle Royal which is essentially a pointless match on the kickoff show.
According to the report, Asuka is well liked by management and backstage officials but Vince McMahon doesn’t “get” her or see her on the same level as Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
Is WWE Planning Stephanie McMahon vs Becky Lynch?
Becky Lynch is main eventing WrestleMania this weekend, but a few months ago the entire main event feud was set into motion by Stephanie McMahon when she tried to force Lynch to see a doctor about her injured knee and was then attacked.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer then reported that WWE had plans for Lynch and McMahon to step in the ring at SummerSlam in August, but wanted creative to go in a different direction ahead of WrestleMania.
This means that it’s highly likely that WWE will pick the feud back up coming out of WrestleMania, especially if Ronda Rousey does go on hiatus like the company expects, because it will allow Lynch to have a solid feud heading into The Biggest Party Of The Summer.
