Kofi Kingston Not Expected To Become Champion At WrestleMania

Daniel Bryan is expected to retain his WWE Championship this weekend at Fastlane when he steps in the ring against Kevin Owens. The current Champion is then expected to step into a feud with Kofi Kingston after he was replaced in this weekend’s match since he should now move on to a WrestleMania match instead.

Despite the fact that these plans were recently changed so that Kingston has a shot at the title at WrestleMania, recent reports suggest that The New Day member won’t be leaving the biggest show of the year with the Championship.

Brad Shepard recently updated the WWE Universe on the company’s current plan on the Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast.

“So obviously we still have many weeks until WrestleMania. They’re weighing different options as to who would [win], but the plan has been for Daniel Bryan to retain the title and that this is another step in building him as a super heel for future programs.”

“As it stands right now Daniel Bryan will be walking out as WWE Champion out of WrestleMania. Again, obviously with the momentum, Kofi has — that could change, but it’s probably going to take some fan support,” he said via Ringsidenews.

“So that will be a very interesting situation to monitor because it’s another case where just by accident someone organically got over in a moment and took the momentum and has done some great things and will WWE give them the ball or is this just an opportunity for a couple of featured matches on a big stage and nothing more?”

Tommaso Ciampa’s Injury Has Forced WWE To Make Major Changes

Tommaso Ciampa is scheduled to undergo neck surgery later today for an injury that is expected to cost him the NXT Championship.

Ciampa isn’t the only star who is missing out on a storyline due to his injury since The Wrestling Observer recently noted that Johnny Gargano could be sent back to NXT following Ciampa’s injury.

Gargano and Ciampa were promoted together a few weeks ago, but since Ciampa has been kept off WWE TV, so has Gargano and now the Observer reports that he has a chance of heading back to NXT and becoming the Champion in Ciampa’s absence.

Gargano and Ciampa had a great start to their life on the main roster having picked up wins over The Revival and The Bar but it appears that Gargano could now be waiting a while before he is used on the main roster as a singles star.
