Who Knew About Roman Reigns’ Announcement? The Big Dog Reportedly Refused To Work Crown Jewel

Roman Reigns’ Raw Announcement Was Kept A Secret Backstage

Roman Reigns returned to Raw last night and announced that his leukemia was in remission before he mixed himself straight back into the action where he teased a Shield reunion along with Seth Rollins.

While there were rumors about what Reigns’ announcement could have been ahead of Raw last night, WWE was able to keep it a secret from most of the locker room with Fightful reporting that only Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Kevin Dunn, and Michele Wilson knew about Reigns’ news before Monday morning.

Reigns returning to the company right now was also reportedly completely his decision. After taking four months away from the WWE The Big Dog decided that this was the best time for his return.

Reigns Reportedly Refused To Work Crown Jewel Event

Roman Reigns was forced to vacate the Universal Championship on October 22nd, when he announced that he had been diagnosed with leukemia. The former World Champion was then forced to withdraw from his match with Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel the following week.

The Saudi Arabian show was already surrounded by controversy with a number of stars pulling out of the event and refusing to be associated with the country at that point including Daniel Bryan and John Cena.

According to a report by Fightful, Reigns had already informed Vince McMahon that he wasn’t working the Crown Jewel event before he made the announcement on Raw that he would be forced to walk away from the company.

The show was just over a week later and WWE was forced to make it a one-on-one match between Lesnar and Strowman where Lesnar walked out with the Championship that he only lost to Reigns at SummerSlam less than three months earlier.
