CM Punk walked away from WWE more than five years ago, while he was still under contract with the company which later forced Vince McMahon to fire him for breach of contract when he refused to return.
Punk has since moved on to a career in UFC, which didn’t go as planned for the former World Champion, but he has made strides as an actor and as a comic book writer in recent years.
The news surrounding CM Punk last week was that he had made his return to professional wrestling under a mask as part of an Independent event, which meant that WWE fans could once again hope that The Best in the World would one day return to the WWE.
While it’s more likely that CM Punk would head over to All Elite Wrestling if he was hoping to lace up his wrestling boots once again on a more full time basis, Brad Shepard recently noted on Oh You Didn’t Know that WWE is now somewhat interested in seeing Punk return to the company.
“I was told that [WWE] would love to have him back which I found very interesting,” he said via Ringsidenews.
Punk has had a few years to look into other careers outside of the ring and the fact that he recently made his return to deliver a GTS shows that he still has the bug.
Even though the former Mr Money In The Bank isn’t a superstar who is motivated by money, he does like to get the world talking and the best way for Punk to be the center of attention is for him to make an epic WWE return, something that many fans believe will never happen.
