Alexa Bliss announced herself as part of the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match this weekend a few weeks ago on Raw, which gave her the chance to become the first back to back winner since CM Punk over a decade ago.
Bliss has quite the history of injuries following her arm issues back at Hell in a Cell last year and has been pulled from a number of WWE matches over the past few months as she’s battled a recurring concussion as well as a number of other injuries on the sidelines.
Luckily, the company has backed the former Women’s Champion and allowed her to be on-screen as a talk show host in recent weeks but obviously, Bliss has wanted to return. The former Miss Money in the Bank did return back at the Royal Rumble and went on to be the host of WrestleMania 35, but Money in the Bank was where she was expected to shine once again, but the company has officially announced that she won’t be part of the ladder match.
It is thought that the angle which saw Nikki Cross replace Alexa Bliss on Monday Night Raw this week was a way that Cross could take Bliss’ place in the match since WWE probably knew from the beginning of the week that the former NXT star wouldn’t be able to be part of the show.
This is a huge blow for Bliss since now neither of last year’s Money in the Bank winners will be defending their wins this weekend. The company hasn’t actually announced what Bliss is struggling with at present, but hopefully, she will overcome the injury and be back in the ring in the near future, since WWE has a habit of labeling stars as injury prone and moving forward without them.
