WWE introduced the brand new 24/7 Championship on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.
Hall Of Famer Mick Foley did the formalities as he walked out to address the WWE Universe for the grand unveiling of WWE’s new title.
Foley said that RAW was lacking something and it’s time to revisit the three vital letters R-A-W.
“Let’s make Monday nights RAW again.”
The Hardcore Legend stated that legends are born 24 hours a day 7 days a week before unveiling the WWE 24/7 Title.
The Albany crowd didn’t seem to like the new strap and the reaction was pretty much neutral. No pops for this one, WWE!
The 24/7 Championship, quite similar to the now-defunct Hardcore Title, is open to Superstars across all brands, namely RAW, SmackDown, 205 Live, NXT and NXT UK. Returning legends can also compete for the title and falls will count any place, any time, 24/7.
Foley further noted that the third hour of the flagship show will be getting grittier henceforth.
“..down right mean and nasty… a little bit dirty.”
A scramble match was announced to crown the inaugural champion. The bout featuring the majority of the mid-carders was eventually won by Titus O’Neil.
Titus’ reign didn’t last long as moments later Robert Roode snuck up from behind and rolled him up to become the immediate next champ.
The other Superstars chased Roode for the title. In the parking lot, Roode met R-Truth in his car who then hid the new champion in the trunk and diverted the other Superstars including Titus in the wrong direction.
Moments later, R-Truth pinned Roode to become the new 24/7 Champion.
It’s pretty clear that WWE is firing on all cylinders to boost ratings. The fact that the new title changed hands thrice on the same night in quick succession is a clear proof of that.
Let’s see which Superstars ‘steal’ the 24/7 Title on SmackDown Live!
