1. The Miz Behind Roman Reigns Opting Out Of WrestleMania?
It was announced last night on SmackDown that The Miz and John Morrison would be defending their SmackDown Tag Team Championships in a triple threat ladder match next weekend at WrestleMania, merely hours after it was revealed that The Miz had become another WrestleMania casualty.
It was Dave Meltzer Of The Wrestling Observer noted that there is now backstage heat on The Miz for showing up to the Performance Center while sick because this news then got to The Usos and to Roman Reigns who was at the Performance Center at the time and decided to make the call not to wrestle.
“Roman Reigns made the call himself. It was interesting because he was there and made the call, It had to do in some form with Miz being sick and The Usos not being happy about it. I don’t really know much else, that’s really all I was told. It’s a weird story because if you followed it, basic logic is that he should have stayed home. Everyone’s got a risk but his risk was high, his reward was high too but his risk was real high. For a guy who already has enough money to live the rest of his life and take care of his kids…it was his decision but that decision shouldn’t have been put on him. I don’t know who made the call but it was an obvious call that wasn’t made so I don’t know where in the WWE medical system it fell through but it fell through.”
Reigns is already immunocompromised because of his recent treatment for leukemia, so it’s thought that he made the right call with respect to his health.
2. Braun Strowman vs Goldberg?
Roman Reigns was originally scheduled to compete against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania next weekend. It’s been reported now that Roman was replaced by Braun Strowman as part of the match since The Big Dog was unable to compete.
Reigns and Goldberg are set to go face to face on SmackDown next week, which is thought to be when Braun Strowman will be added to the match instead of Reigns.
3. List Of Stars Set To Miss WrestleMania
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused WWE and its WrestleMania preparation a whole lot of problems in recent weeks since Dana Brooke was reported to have become ill and pulled from the SmackDown Women’s Championship match earlier in the week.
Rey Mysterio‘s rumored United States Championship match against Andrade was then canceled because Mysterio was forced to self-isolate, while The Miz was sent home after coming to the Performance Center while ill. Andrade was later pulled from his Raw Tag Team Championship match due to injury, while Murphy was scheduled to be part of last week’s episode of Raw and WrestleMania, but he wasn’t cleared due to injury.
4. Vince McMahon Never Wants To Work With CM Punk Again
There was a rumor last week that CM Punk had not been approached by WWE about making a return to the company since becoming part of WWE Backstage, but according to a report by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, CM Punk’s agent actually reached out to WWE about a return for the former World Champion, but Vince Mcmahon shot the idea down because he reportedly never wants to work with CM Punk again.
5. Reason For AOP’s Recent Absence
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rezar recently had surgery to repair two torn biceps, which means that he will be sidelined for up to eight months. Given his injury, WWE has made the decision to take his partner Akam off TV as well, which means that Seth Rollins will be going in alone while Murphy is out injured as well. At present, it is unknown as to whether or not Rollins was alone for his match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania.
“Right now the decision is not to use Akam without him so as of right now there are no plans for either of them for appearing on television.”
6. Scott Dawson No Longer Being Paid By WWE
Scott Dawson is still contracted to WWE for a couple more weeks but isn’t expected to make any more appearances for the company. According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Dawson is no longer being paid by WWE and the former Tag Team Champion hasn’t been paid by the company for six or seven weeks. It’s thought that The Revival will continue to work together after their WWE release and could be heading over to All Elite Wrestling’s tag team division.
Dash Wilder has already claimed the trademark for the name “Cash Wheeler” which is expected to be his name when he leaves WWE while the team could now be called “The Top Guys”.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
